Recently, CRRC Qishuyan held a delivery ceremony for the hydrogen-powered locomotive exported to Chile. Based on the domestic hydrogen-powered locomotives, this Chile one is designed as a fuel cell hybrid locomotive, taking into consideration its operating route, environment, as well as specific conditions like salt spray, ultraviolet radiation, wind and sand, steep slopes, small curves, urban sections, and large hydrogenation capacity, on the principles of standardization, modularization, serialization, and generalization. The total power of this locomotive reaches up to 1,000 kW, and it is equipped with large-capacity batteries and a 35 MPa high-pressure on-board hydrogen storage system.
This is the first hydrogen-powered locomotive in Chile and in South America as well. Compared to FCAB’s existing locomotives, it is easy to operate, more modern, and humanitarian.
